2005 was a year of new awareness. 2006 is a year of work! The region needs more school space, a church and a medical center. This year we’re building a multi-purpose steel structure that’s 60’ by 30’ to be used for all three. The tribe has been making blocks for months and after we leave they will complete the building. Last year they had one small building, walls broken in from the weather, made of mud from termite mounds. Over 200 children walked for miles to crowd into their “classroom,” gather under trees and wait to learn. In 2006, over 500 children are walking in each morning for an education. Our new building will not meet the need but it will change the lives of hundreds looking for shelter and the opportunity to learn.
